Say hello to Beaker the Green-cheeked Conure.

Emma Turner is here to tell us about her lovely Green-cheeked Conure Beaker.

Tell us about your Parrot

My Parrot is a Green-cheeked Conure (Pineapple) called Beaker. He will be 1 year old in July 2018 and he keeps us entertained!

Why did you choose a Green-cheeked Conure?

I have always liked birds and previously had Budgies. After researching Conures and their friendly personalities we decided one would be a good fit for our home and lifestyle.

What is Beaker’s favourite food?

Beaker likes a lot of different foods. He enjoys Tropical NutriBerries with breakfast and enjoys foraging for dried chillies during the day. He has recently started to eat Harrison’s Fine Pellets too.

His favourite fruits are passion fruit and raspberries and his favourite veg is sweet corn.

Does Beaker have any favourite toys?

Beaker’s favourite toy is his green sneaker, which he loves to chew! He loves chewing laces! He also likes to chase his small ball around the table.

Does Beaker have any games he likes to play?

When out of the cage, Beaker enjoys pushing toys around and then dropping them over the edge of the table! He has a jigsaw but instead of putting the pieces in, he removes them and drops them on the floor! The same with his green ball! More training required lol!

Does Beaker speak?

Beaker can say his name and a few other phrases such as “What you doing?” and “what’s this” when you bring him food!

Do you have advice for new Parrot owners?

Just be patient when you first get your bird. Beaker was parent reared, but by spending time with him and training him, he quickly became tame and friendly
