Say hello to Ruby the African Grey

Here is another wonderful instalment of our Meet My Parrot. This week we’re meeting Ruby the African Grey and her owner Linda Knights.

Why did you choose an African Grey?

I chose an African Grey because I fell in love with them after 'Bird sitting' one. So Ruby was adopted on February 9th 2014 and I've never looked back!

What is Ruby’s favourite food?

She is a great eater, loves her fruit and veg but would sell her soul for pomegranate.

Does she have any favourite toys?

She has lots of toys but loves to chew her wooden toys AND PERCHES!

Does she have any games she like to play?

She dances and plays peekaboo.

Does she speak?

She talks constantly......"hello darling" "bye bye, see ya soon, thanks for coming watch them roads" "help call the police" "OH NO.....what's happened" "can't do it nurse, me nerves are bad" "Tracey Tracey where are ya?" and MUCH MUCH more (including a couple of naughty words)!

She torments the life out of my 3 Cockatiels but knows all their names.

Do you have advice for new Parrot owners?

African Greys are the most wonderful companions but anyone thinking of adopting one should read up on them first and meet some....it's like having a young child to teach and look after.
