This guide provides a list of avian-experienced veterinary practices. These vets have qualifications, experience or a particular interest in treating birds and exotic species. Whether you need routine health checks, nutritional advice, diagnostic testing or emergency treatment, the practices below can help support your Parrot's health and wellbeing.

Why Choose an Avian Vet?

Parrots have unique anatomy, nutritional requirements and healthcare needs. An avian vet has additional knowledge and experience in diagnosing and treating bird-specific conditions, including:

• Feather plucking
• Respiratory diseases
• Psittacosis
• Nutritional deficiencies
• Egg binding
• Beak and nail abnormalities
• Behavioural concerns

Regular health checks with an avian vet can help identify problems early and keep your bird in the best possible condition.

Avian Vets in Scotland

Finding an experienced avian vet is one of the most important parts of responsible bird ownership. Whether you need routine health checks, emergency treatment or specialist advice, having access to a qualified avian veterinarian can make a significant difference to your bird's wellbeing.

To help Scottish bird owners, we've compiled a list of veterinary professionals and practices with recognised qualifications and experience in avian and zoological medicine. These specialists can provide expert care for Parrots and other companion birds throughout Scotland.

Why Choose an Avian Vet?

Birds have unique healthcare requirements that often differ from those of cats and dogs. Avian veterinarians have additional training and experience in diagnosing and treating bird species, ensuring your feathered companion receives the highest standard of care.

If you notice any signs of illness, behavioural changes, weight loss, breathing difficulties or injury, contact a qualified avian vet as soon as possible. Early intervention can be crucial for successful treatment.
